God is moving in every ministry
These last few weeks have been absolutely incredible. If I could write down everything that the Lord has been doing in this time, it would take me all day and I would not run in short supply. It has been busy, there have been learning curves and difficult things to be sure but God has been so good in everything. Here are a few of the things that he has been doing.
It has been really cool to be able to do ministry every week. As part of the school we are part of different ministries and this last month, every week I was doing at least 2 outreachs (in the community work as opposed to working on campus).
The ministry I had on Tuesdays was trailer which is where we fill a trailer with chairs, sound equipment, tables, games and whatever else may be needed, then drive out to a local community and host an event. It is very spur of the moment, all of our guests find out that it is happening only hours before it takes place. As soon as we arrive we split into teams and knock on doors inviting people to a party in a nearby park. We use the games, music and prizes as a venue to set the stage so we can share with them the love of Jesus.

The second ministry that I got to do in September was trash ministry which is where we go into the community and pick up people's trash for free and ask if they need prayer. While this may not sound like the most appealing of ministries and definitely not the cleanest, it has to be one of my favorites. It is a really practical way that we get to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community. Trash collection is something that costs money here Mexico, so for us to be collecting it for free gets people's attention and softens hearts towards us. Many times people are more open to prayer when they know you actually care. When you aren't afraid of the dirt and grime and just want to show the love of Jesus.
We have also had a few special events that we have been able to participate in or host that were really awesome. On September 14th we hosted an event on campus here to celebrate Mexican independence day. We started the night with worship and got to enjoy getting together from many of the surrounding communities.
Last Saturday we had a group of motorcyclists called Soldiers Of The Cross that came and did one of the shortest and most interesting mission trips that I have seen. They had a group of about 30 guys that came from northern California with their bikes, some of them riding the entire way, to come and do a mission trip here for about 24 hours. They got here Saturday morning early and I got to meet and talk with some of them. It was absolutely incredible to see these rough, tough looking, leather jacket wearing motorcyclists talk about Jesus with so much love and passion. They rode their motorcycles all over campus, giving rides to rancho kids. Later that day we did an event in the park, hosted by the group, where we invited people from the community to join us for a message and food. After they gave the message they invited people up for prayer and prayed for them with so much passion. It was something unlike I have ever seen.
Last weekend we went to a worship night in San Diego as part of a volunteer prayer team. Through that I had the opportunity to pray for a lady who had trouble walking and couldn't feel her legs. When we prayed for her we were able to see improvement and I pray God healed her fully on her way home.
So that is what I've been up to. I would love to hear about the amazing things that God is doing where you live so if you would like to share please reach out to me.
Until next time,
Lauren Carr
